# action-units — repo context

> Curated overview for code_search. Source: `publicgoodsw/action-units` (GitHub). Node.js.

## Purpose
Renders an **"action unit"** on a media-partner website — the embeddable
donation/action experience plus the external JavaScript modules PublicGood
provides to partners. Loads campaigns (by GUID or referring URL) and drives the
action page.

## Structure
- `src/` — the action-unit application + external JS modules
- `action_unit_tester/` — the testing tool for loading campaigns
- `config/` + `config.{dev,staging,demo,production,test}.json` — env configs
- `test/` — TestCafe automated tests (`helpers`, `test-scenarios`, `test-scripts`)
- `gulpfile.js`, `Makefile` — build (gulp) + deploy (`make deploy-{staging|demo|production}`)

## Runtime / relationships
Local dev runs several servers (main app :8083, tester :8084, config :8085,
test-scenarios :8086) that emulate the AWS environment; talks to **parade** and
staging/production APIs. Deployed to AWS.

## Tech
Node.js 20 · JavaScript · gulp build · TestCafe tests · AWS hosting. (package name `take-action-ex`.)
