# Website Dropdown Handler - Implementation Complete

## Summary of Changes

Fixed the validation error "dev.webcrawlers.com is already a project in this workspace" by implementing proper handling for the website dropdown in the SEO Automation wizard.

### Files Modified

1. **public/assets/js/seo-automation.js**
   - Added event listener for `[data-sa-website-select]` dropdown (line ~497)
   - Updated `freshWiz()` to include `website_id: null` field
   - Refactored `createProject()` to handle two flows:
     - **Existing website flow**: Calls POST `/websites/{id}/create-seo-project`
     - **New website flow**: Calls POST `/websites/onboard` (original behavior)

### How It Works

#### Dropdown Selection Flow
1. User opens SEO Automation dashboard at `/seo-automation`
2. At Step 1, dropdown shows unregistered websites (where `is_seo_project = 0`)
3. User selects a website, e.g., `dev.webcrawlers.com`
4. JavaScript dropdown handler:
   - Extracts domain, website_id, protocol from option data attributes
   - Sets `wiz.website_id = id` (marks as existing website flow)
   - Sets `wiz.validated = true` (skips reachability check)
   - Shows domain info card with message: "Registered website — converting to project"
   - Enables "Next" button

#### Project Creation Flow
1. User proceeds through Steps 2 (business info) and 3 (pixel installation)
2. User clicks "Create project" button
3. JavaScript `createProject()` function:
   - Detects `wiz.website_id` is set
   - Calls POST `/websites/{id}/create-seo-project` endpoint
   - Server response marks website as project (`is_seo_project = 1`)
   - Project appears in dashboard after refresh
4. User sees success message and animation

### Test Steps

#### Test Case 1: Select from Dropdown
1. Open dashboard: http://localhost:8080/seo-automation
2. At Step 1, click the dropdown
3. Select `dev.webcrawlers.com` from the list
4. **Expected**:
   - Domain card appears showing "Registered website — converting to project"
   - "Next" button becomes enabled
   - Success message appears (green)

#### Test Case 2: Complete Project Creation
1. Follow Test Case 1
2. Click "Next" to go to Step 2
3. Enter business info (optional - can skip)
4. Click "Continue" to go to Step 3
5. See pixel installation options (can skip or install)
6. Click "Create project"
7. **Expected**:
   - Loading animation shows: Queued → Dispatched for crawl/sync/analysis/score
   - Success message: "Project created"
   - Dashboard shows dev.webcrawlers.com as a project

#### Test Case 3: Verify Database Update
```sql
-- Should show is_seo_project = 1 after project creation
SELECT id, domain, is_seo_project FROM wc_websites WHERE domain = 'dev.webcrawlers.com';
```
**Expected**: `is_seo_project` column = 1

#### Test Case 4: Verify Dashboard Filtering
1. After creating project, refresh dashboard
2. Check GET `/api/v1/websites/seo` response
3. Should include `dev.webcrawlers.com` in the projects list
4. **Expected**: Project appears in SEO Automation projects table

#### Test Case 5: Manual URL Entry Still Works
1. At Step 1, instead of using dropdown, enter a new domain in URL field
2. Click "Check domain"
3. Complete wizard as normal
4. **Expected**: New website is created and project is created (original flow unchanged)

### Validation Logic

**Before (Broken)**:
- When user selected website from dropdown, validation ran `checkDomain()`
- `checkDomain()` checked if domain was already in projects array
- Blocked creation with error: "is already a project in this workspace"

**After (Fixed)**:
- Dropdown handler sets `wiz.website_id` and marks as validated
- Completely bypasses `checkDomain()` validation
- Calls dedicated endpoint `/websites/{id}/create-seo-project`
- Distinguishes between:
  - Existing website (has `website_id`) → convert to project
  - New website (no `website_id`) → create + project

### API Endpoints

**POST /websites/onboard** (Create new website + project)
- Used when user enters URL manually
- Creates new record in wc_websites
- Sets `is_seo_project = 1` and triggers audit

**POST /websites/{id}/create-seo-project** (Convert existing website to project)
- Used when user selects from dropdown
- Updates existing website record
- Sets `is_seo_project = 1` (marks as SEO project)
- Does NOT trigger audit (website already verified)

### Related Components

- View: [seo-automation.php](../app/Views/dashboard/seo-automation.php) (lines 162-175) - renders dropdown with data attributes
- Controller: [WebsitesController::seo()](../app/Controllers/Api/V1/WebsitesController.php#L850) - returns only `is_seo_project = 1`
- Migration: [AddIsSeoProjectToWebsites](../app/Database/Migrations/2026-08-20-000003_AddIsSeoProjectToWebsites.php) - added column

### Status

✅ **Implementation Complete**
- JavaScript dropdown handler implemented
- createProject() split into two flows
- Website ID tracking added to wizard state
- No syntax errors detected
- Ready for testing

### Next Steps

1. Test dropdown selection flow
2. Complete project creation flow
3. Verify database updates to `is_seo_project` column
4. Verify project appears in dashboard
5. Test with different users/websites
